At its September meeting, the Kyle Chamber of Commerce welcomed the new Center Director of the Gary Job Corps Center Angela Rackley, who comes with more than 20 years of experience as the director of the Charleston, Sacramento, Albuquerque, Little Rock and Schriver Job Corps Centers. Additionally, Rackley brings a wealth of knowledge as a Corporate Director of Student Support Services, Student Development Director and Executive Director of Youth Employment Services. The Gary Job Corps Center came under new management by EQUUS Workforce Solutions effective April 1.

Texas State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen from Sept. 26 to Oct. 1 in the Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre.

The Dripping Springs Pumpkin Festival announces dates for the 3rd and final year of the Fall festival, taking place over six weekends from Sept. 23 to Oct. 29, with an official grand opening the weekend of Sept. 23 - 24. The event will be held at the Dr. Pound Historical Farmstead (located at 419 Founders Park Rd. Dripping Springs). The festival will be open for six weekends in the fall, each Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Treasures will be flying out the door on Saturday, Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. during the 3rd annual Heritage Association of San Marcos Treasure Sale in the Charles S. Cock House Museum, 400 E. Hopkins. At last year’s sale, shoppers were lined up on the sidewalk waiting to get inside.
