Columnist’s Note: My journey this week has returned to my friend, Paul Buntyn, Pastor Emeritus of Abundant Life Christian Church, San Marcos, Texas. I asked him to share his thought in this week’s column.

Following a year of early record successes in art shows and community cultural celebrations, the Price Center’s Arts Committee has set an aggressive calendar of events and activities for 2021, including the return of an all-women’s art show and more interactive collaborative community art projects. An effort to include more cultural and heritage displays and observations has also already begun.

KMFA 89.5, Austin’s listener-supported classical music station, announces the full schedule for “Live from the Draylen Mason,” a Grand Opening Celebration, Jan. 29 – 31. “Live from the Draylen Mason” events will include three days of streaming programming by locally and nationally acclaimed artists. Tickets are available at kmfa.org/live.

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Texas State will offer a full schedule of virtual performances for the spring 2021 semester.

I have a healthy respect for snakes. I know they sometimes provide a beneficial service in rodent control, but I still have a hard time really liking them. Especially the poisonous types.

Dunbar Heritage Association will host a virtual wreath-laying ceremony on Monday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. The physical event will be filmed earlier in the day, but will be shared online via the Dunbar Heritage Association Facebook page @DunbarHeritage.

Rainbow Rhythm King of the Ages daylily has the gardening world abuzz with anticipation for spring 2021. This is a 38-inch-tall new daylily making its debut and offering the rarest of colors in the garden world. It is a combination of butter yellow, peach and apricot blend. That would be enough to make you scream but consider, it also has a burgundy eye and ruffled burgundy margins. I assure you it is coming to The Garden Guy’s house.
