AUSTIN - For the first time since 2002, the San Marcos Rattlers boy’s basketball is advancing to the regional quarterfinals. The Rattlers will now face San Antonio powerhouse Reagan Rattlers on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

One final regular season game and Texas State women’s basketball has a shot at its first conference title in 15 years.

NEW BRAUNFELS - Bi-District Round of the UIL 6A Playoff Basketball Playoffs began Tuesday for the 8th ranked San Marcos Rattlers as they found a way to win a nail biter over the San Antonio Clark Cougars 50-48 at Canyon High School in New Braunfels.

Daniel Harrold, Sedrickia Wynn, Dominick Yancy, and the men’s 4x400 relay each won individual conference championships, including two by Wynn, as Texas State closed out the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships at the Birmingham Crossplex on Tuesday.

Texas State closed out tournament play at the I-35 Invitational with a winning record at 3-2 including a three game series win against South Dakota State.

It was a historic weekend for Texas State as the Bobcats hit a program record eight homeruns in a single game to beat Northwestern 24-9 to sweep the three game series.

Despite losing the doubles point early in the match, Texas State (2-5) came back to defeat Stephen F. Austin (2-4) 6-1 and swept all six singles matches on Sunday, Feb. 19 at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.

In the final home game of the season, the Texas State Bobcats defeated the South Alabama Jaguars 77-57 After a tough 58-54 loss to James Madison on Thursday night, graduate senior Kennedy Taylor wasn’t thinking about the defeat but rather ways the Bobcats can improve themselves.

A back and forth affair saw the Texas State men’s basketball team (13-16, 6-10 Sun Belt) pull out a 78-75 win over Coastal Carolina (11-17, 5-11 Sun Belt) in the HTC Center on Saturday afternoon. The victory keeps the Bobcats’ hopes alive to claim a bye for the first round of the tournament.

It was a tale of two games for Texas State at the I-35 Invitational as the Bobcats blew out the Lamar Cardinals 9-0 on Thursday and lost to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits on Friday 2-0.

There was a report of a new record in running that I had not heard of this week. Thinking of all the different races, challenges, and contests that use the activity of running it seems almost anything goes when it comes to competing with some form of running.
