'As a reporter for the Record, I get to go to a lot of really cool, interesting places and events and meet some amazing people. So there are many work memories I will cherish from 2023. However, visiting the ¡Viva Terlingua! exhibit with two of the band members from Jerry Jeff Walker and the Lost Gonzo Band, bass player Bob Livingston and guitarist Craig Hillis, and the Wittliff Collections Texas Music Curator Hector Saldana has to be one of my top moments.

How to adopt these pets

Both pets are available for adoption at the San Marcos Regional Shelter. All ready-to-go pets are normally $22 and include spay/neuter, vet exam, vaccinations, and a microchip. To meet the pets, visit the San Marcos Regional Animal in person from noon-7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from noon-5 p.m. on Saturdays, or online at www.sanmarcostx.gov/adopt to choose a pet and fill out an online adoption application. Then, give the shelter a call at 512.805.2650 or email [email protected]. Anyone interested in fostering a pet should email [email protected] or visit www.sanmarcostx.gov/foster to fill out a foster application.

Rodriguez Elementary hosted its inaugural Rodriguez Gives Back event on Sunday, Dec. 17 to serve families within the San Marcos Consolidated School District in a variety of ways. With the help of local businesses and organizations, the Rodriguez community was able to help 22 San Marcos families.
