The National Weather Service website stated that as of Jan. 4, 24% of the Hill Country is in what is considered extreme drought conditions, which is the second to the worst drought designation category. Additionally, 20% of the Hill Country is in severe drought, which is a level below extreme. Aquifer levels reached the lowest point since the 1950s. Issues around groundwater usage and the limitations thereof have gotten contentious.

The unique circumstance came up because of an “error by a Hays County vendor that has affected more than 6,000 jury notices throughout multiple county offices,” according to Hays County District Clerk Avrey Anderson Sr.

The Gary Job Corps Center hosted the Community Relations Council to show appreciation for a Wonderful 2023 and discuss the plans for a successful 2024. The students and staff have assisted with many community projects, and part of the meeting was the planning of the upcoming year. The Gary staff and students have been active over the years in building projects and volunteer events in the following Central Texas cities: Dripping Springs, Wimberley, Driftwood, Austin, Georgetown, Lockhart, Maxwell, Martindale, Luling, Prairie Lea, Redwood, New Braunfels, San Antonio, Bastrop, Buda, Kyle and San Marcos.
