A Word About Recycling with Ollie Maier
A Word About Recycling with Ollie Maier

As mentioned last week, from a Resource Recycling newsletter, we find every year Americans throw away around 45 billion aluminum used beverage cans (UBC). And these landfilled cans are estimated to be worth about $800 million. (This waste is a Bummer!)

The Journey Continues: Baptisms and Holy Communion

My journey last week began with a telephone call from Houston. “This is M------; I’m the daughter of ‘R’. My mom and my sister were both baptized at Redwood Baptist Church.”

Recently along a stretch of Devil’s Backbone, people have been lining up their cars near a public-access picnic area to watch the setting sun. The idea of 3-foot tall or less buddleias, or butterfly bushes, seemed like just what the doctor ordered to be able to incorporate them with lantanas, rudbeckias, gaillardia and salvias for a colorful wild Serengetistyle backyard habitat. Lo and behold, I have a found a Garden Guy favorite.

In our home, we recycle all our aluminum used beverage cans (UBC), just as most of you probably also do. (And getting a little change for them is a nice benefit in some places.) However, it surprised us how many cans are not recycled.

THE JOURNEY CONTINUES: Rommie Loudd

My journey this week takes me to Rommie Loudd, a friend I made at my first pastorage in Winters, Texas, in 1986. His witness helped build my faith.
