True, you have to wait until you can afford the journey, but don’t put off traveling in the belief you can always go at a later date. That later date may never come – people die at all ages and there’s no guarantee you won’t be an early fatality.

Last week, San Marcos Public Library organizers invited guests to the San Marcos Cemetery for the launch of their new monthly poetry bulletin titled: “When the River Speaks.” They invite San Marcos area residents to submit their original poetry and the theme for their debut publication was “Everybody In!”

The Old Town Community of North Columbus is once again schooling us on the use of horse troughs for cool season color, and this year they are maximizing the use of texture. Since I retired from the University of Georgia, son James, the color design guru for Old Town, keeps me involved, making me feel as though this is my experiment station.

The Austin Gay Men’s Chorus is kicking off the holiday season by returning to the stage for its “Celebrate the Holigays” concert at 8 p.m. Dec. 3 and 4 and at 4 p.m. Dec. 5 at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, 606 W. 15th Street in Austin.
