October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, and we hope to educate our community on this very important issue Locally, the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Center has been serving victims of domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, and child abuse since 1978. Last year, HCWC served 2,055 victims of abuse (face-to-face) primarily from Hays and Caldwell Counties. 816 of those were victims of domestic violence.

Editor, I wonder if Rey Garcia, the city engineer who oversaw the Victory Gardens Improvement Project ever came back to inspect all the flaws committed by the contractors hired by the city. And, I also wonder if the city paid them extra for taking a year longer to complete the project which in all actuality, they should have been penalized for each day they took longer to complete. No worries, the taxpayers can foot the bill.
