Texas historic courthouse preservation program grant cycle is now open

The Texas Historical Commission’s (award-winning Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program will open its next grant cycle in February– but now is the time for county and city governments to confirm their grant program eligibility and take note of important deadlines leading up to the grant application deadline. Counties or cities that own a building that is over 49 years old and functions or previously functioned as the primary seat of county government are eligible to participate.

Canyon Lake is experiencing the lowest water level in recorded history. In September 2009, the lake’s elevation reached 892.68 ft-msl. As of Aug. 31, that number has fallen to 892.42. Canyon Lake is the main water source for the city of San Marcos, and the low level prompts a need for customers to be mindful of indoor and outdoor water usage. SMTX Utilities also considers Edwards Aquifer levels and San Marcos River flows when implementing drought stages, which are continuing to decline.
