Caraway says she’s retiring; county seeks applicants

Luanne Caraway, the county’s long-serving tax assessor-collector, is retiring at the end of the month and the Comnissioners Court is taking applications to fill her unexpired term which ends Dec. 31, 2020.

Caraway was appointed in May, 1994, and was  elected to an unexpired term that November. She has been re-elected since.

To apply, applicants must fill out a county job application (http://www.co.hays.tx.us/Data/Sites/1/media/pdf/departments/hr/applications/hays-county-general-employment-application---updated-12.18.pdf) and submit a resume that should include documentation of any statutorily required training and continuing education as required by Texas Tax Code, Title 1 Property Tax Code, Subtitle B, Property Tax Administration, Chapter 6, Subchapter B. Assessors and Collectors, Section 6.231 Continuing Education. The appointed individual must be able to obtain bond for the State of Texas and Hays County pursuant to Texas Tax Code, Title 1 Property Tax Code, Subtitle B. Property Tax Administration, Chapter 6, Subchapter B. Assessors and Collectors, Section 6.28 Bonds for State and County Taxes.

Applications and resumes must be submitted by 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, to the Hays County General Counsel’s Office in person at 111 E. San Antonio St., Suite 202, San Marcos, TX  78666 or by email to [email protected]. Questions can also be directed to Anderson.
