San Marcos police arrest 2 on drug, weapons charges in Friday incident

Two men arrested Friday were carrying a loaded handgun, ammunition, and significant amounts of codeine and marijuana, according to the San Marcos Police Department. 

San Marcos Police officers found Wayland James Hurst, 21, and Rodjohon Deanmar Dorsey, 22, early March 6 in a stolen vehicle parked at the Raceway on Highway 80 at approximately 2:14 a.m. Both suspects were taken to the Hays County Jail.

Hurst was charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, Unlawful carrying a weapon, and possession of marijuana, 4oz. to 5 lbs.. He was released on March 7 on two surety bonds and a personal recognizance bond totaling $10,000.

Dorsey was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. He was released on surety bonds totaling $6,000 on March 8.

The investigation into Friday’s incident remains open, SMPD said.
