Texas State inks 15 to begin early signing period

Texas State head coach Jake Spavital signed 15 recruits to letters of intent on Wednesday as the NCAA early signing period began.

Spavital’s class includes five high school seniors in Dallas Bishop Dunne linebackers John and Josh Emmanuel, McKinney North offensive lineman Austin Markiewicz, Missouri City Elkins running back Issiah Nixon and Luling offensive lineman Trenton Scott.

Seven junior college transfers will also be joining the Bobcats. Five of them hail from Tyler Junior College in offensive lineman Alex Costilla, defensive back Grid Isadore, wide receiver Drue Jackson, defensive back Aaron Reynolds and linebacker Maureese Wren. The other two are offensive lineman Russell Baker from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and linebacker Isaiah Karriem from Mississippi Delta Community College.

Three Power 5 transfers round out the early recruiting class in Oklahoma State running back Jahmyl Jeter, Arkansas offensive lineman Silas Robinson and Iowa State defensive back Tory Spears.

In total, Texas State signed 10 three-star recruits and three two-stars. The early signing period will come to an end this Friday.
