2019 Wine & Wassail Walk

2019 Wine & Wassail Walk

The San Marcos Main Street Program invites residents to enjoy an evening of holiday cheer downtown at the 2019 Wine and Wassail Walk on Friday, Dec. 6 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

The sixth annual Wine and Wassail Walk will feature a tour of retail businesses serving a variety of wines, homemade wassail and paired hors d’oeuvres. Participants will receive a commemorative wine glass and enjoy live entertainment while strolling the downtown streets.

Downtown Coordinator Josie Falletta said the Wine and Wassail Walk is the perfect time to enjoy the holidays in downtown.

“Wine and Wassail Walk really embodies the holiday season — the courthouse is lit up for the holidays and our businesses too,” Falletta said. “And that’s really the reason we do this, is because it’s also the season to shop small.”

2018 Wine and Wassail attendees browse for gifts in Son of a Sailor.

Participating businesses include: Chandler Allstate Insurance, Creeds and Crests, Easy Tiger Yoga, KnD's, Hideaway on Hopkins, Mobile Phone Geeks, One & Only Tattoo, the San Marcos Art Center, the San Marcos Barber Shop, Satin's Salon, Smoothie Warrior, Son of a Sailor and Tipsy Cow Ice Cream. Businesses will be competing to win the people’s choice award for Best Wassail throughout the evening.

Check in for the event will be at the newly-opened Mobility Hub, 214 E. Hutchinson St. Tickets are $25 from now to Nov. 30 and $30 between Dec. 1-6. Please note this is a 21+ event only. More information and tickets are available at the Wine and Wassail Walk website.

Shop Small Saturday and the Downtown Lighting ceremony will kick off the season to shop small this Saturday in downtown. The San Marcos Main Street Program will be hosting a complimentary gift-wrapping station beginning at 5:30 p.m. for any gift purchased at a downtown business during Shop Small Saturday. County Judge Ruben Becerra will be serving as emcee for the lighting ceremony that begins at 6 p.m. Saturday and Santa Claus will visit the courthouse rotunda soon after to hear the children’s wishes and pose for parent photos.
