Clearing the clutter for a good cause

Clearing the clutter for a good cause

What did you find buried in the closet while pulling out the holiday decorations? Preloved treasures you’re ready to part with? Central Texas Medical Center Hospice Care is hosting a “Clear the Clutter Before Christmas” donation drive to benefit the Have a Heart Thrift Store throughout the month of December.

Community members can drop off donations at the Have a Heart Thrift Store (1313 IH 35 N, San Marcos, Texas) Monday and Thursday 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and Tuesday and Wednesday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Donations may also be dropped off in the CTMC Hospice Care main office during normal business hours. Tax-deductible receipts will be available upon request.

“The Have a Heart Thrift Store not only helps us to offer the best care to our patients and their families, but the community as well,” said Allison Hardy, director of CTMC Hospice Care. “The funds raised from sales allow the Family Grief Center to continually offer free services and support to anyone in our community.”

Proceeds from the Have a Heart Thrift Store go directly to CTMC Hospice Care’s Family Grief Center, which provides a safe and comfortable environment to work through and express the feelings associated with losing a loved one. The Family Grief Center offers support groups, as well as individual and family counseling, not only to hospice patients’ families, but also the community at no cost.

CTMC originated in 1923 as Hays County Soldiers, Sailors and Marines Memorial Hospital. It opened at its current Wonder World Drive location in 1983. The CTMC staff of more than 700 employees works with more than 300 active and consulting physicians to provide quality services to patients and their families. For more than 20 consecutive years, CTMC has been named The Best Hospital in Hays County in the annual “Best of Hays” publication released by the San Marcos Daily Record. In addition to interventional cardiac services, CTMC is a Certified Chest Pain Center and an accredited Primary Stroke Center. CTMC leads the region in da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery and offers a variety of specialty care services including medical imaging, rehabilitation, hospice, women’s services and more.
