Sights & Sounds of Christmas to implement Clear Bag Policy

Sights & Sounds of Christmas to implement Clear Bag Policy

Sights & Sounds of Christmas will implement a clear bag policy for the first time this year.

The annual festival — hosted by the Sights & Sounds Foundation in partnership with the City of San Marcos — will allow the following bags: clutch purses smaller than 5.5 inches-by-8.5 inches, clear bags smaller than 12 inches-by-6 inches-by-12 inches, and one-gallon plastic freezer bags. An exception will be made for medically necessary items and diaper bags after proper inspection at the entrances. All bags will be subject to inspection.

Prohibited bags include but are not limited to: backpacks, camera cases, mesh bags, purses, tinted plastic bags, oversized tote bags, binocular cases, and printed pattern bags. This policy is subject to change.

“Limiting the type of bags allowed into the festival will help maintain a safe environment and enhance guest experience,” the city said in a press release. “Attendees may be subject to search in order to enter the festival grounds and are encouraged to plan their arrival time accordingly if attending specific performances.”

H-E-B and Amazon, two local sponsors, have clear bags available for purchase.

Sights & Sounds begins Dec. 4 at the San Marcos Plaza Park and City Park with the first weekend concluding on Dec. 7. The second weekend is Dec. 11-14.
