A New Orleans man has been arrested in San Marcos in connection to burglaries of automobiles and a garage.

On Wednesday night at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers were called after two males reportedly checked door handles on vehicles, according to a Facebook post by the San Marcos Police Department. The officers then found Anthony A. Austin near Rush Haven and Golden Shadow burglarizing a vehicle.

Austin, 24, has been charged with three counts of Burglary of a Vehicle, Burglary of a Building, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Public Intoxication, and Forgery of Government Instrument, and is now being held in the Hays County Jail on a $30,000 bond.

SMPD has instructed anyone who is missing any belongings to contact the Police Department at 512-753-2108, as stolen items were found near the scene.

The second individual reportedly seen with Austin has not been found, and SMPD is asking anyone with information to come forward.
