A man was found dead in a drainage creek near Veterans Park on Saturday, San Marcos Police said.
On Tuesday, San Marcos Police Department officials released the identity of the victim in Saturday’s homicide as Charles William Lauria II, 57.
The victim’s name was previously being held until next of kin was notified.
Police were dispatched to the area of 320 Mariposa St. — Veterans Park — after receiving reports of a deceased person near a drainage creek, officials said.
Police found a dead man near his campsite approximately 30 feet away up the embankment. He was found to have sustained stab wounds to the upper torso.
San Marcos Police are still investigating this crime and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Michael Casillas at 512-754-2202.
