Council to discuss Martindale ETJ, flood mitigation in special meeting

Council to discuss Martindale ETJ, flood mitigation in special meeting

The San Marcos City Council is holding a special meeting Friday morning.

In executive session, council is slated to receive a staff briefing and make deliberations concerning the city’s dispute with Martindale over an extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) overlap. The land in question is part of the proposed SMART (San Marcos Air, Rail and Truck) Terminal development. The Martindale City Council discussed the ETJ issue in closed session during a special meeting of its own Monday night but did not take any action.

Council is also slated to receive a stormwater utility update and a staff presentation on long-term flood mitigation and Atlas 14 (a study that analyzes historical rainfall data in order to determine future hypothetical rain events).

The meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow in the council chambers at City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins St. City council meetings are televised live on Spectrum Ch. 10 and Grande Ch. 16 or 123-16 and streamed online.
