Texas State tied their second straight Big 12 opponent as the Bobcats played the Baylor Bears to a 2-2 draw off of a last second goal from freshman midfielder Helen Alormenu The Bobcats improve their record to 3-3-2 overall.

“This was a really good game tonight. Our girls took the weather delay in stride and played really well throughout,” Head Coach Steve Holeman said. “I’m proud of our effort and commitment to play until the final whistle. This is one more positive step in our preparation for the Sun Belt.”

Alormenu played her first game with the Bobcats after missing the first seven games due to competing for Ghana at the U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Victoria Meza scored her second goal of the season to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead in the 53rd minute.

However the Bears rallied and took a 2-1 lead going into the final stretches of the game.

With just seconds remaining in the game, the Bobcats were awarded with the free kick following a Baylor foul.

The Bears were able to connect with the header in an attempt to move the ball away from the goal but ball ended up finding fifth year senior Mya Ulloa.

Off the header, Ulloa passed the ball towards the right side of the net towards Alormenu.

Alormenu dribbled the ball for a brief second before turning around to take the shot. The ball sailed into the opposite corner of the net and past the goalkeeper for the equalizer.

The freshman was mobbed by her teammates as the celebrated Alormenu’s first goal as a Texas State Bobcat.

Baylor was unable to answer back to seal a 2-2 tie for the Bobcats.

Sophomore goalkeeper Caitlyn Draper finished the game with ten saves to become just the 11th Bobcat to surpass 100 career saves.

Texas State returns to play Thursday night back on the road in a showdown with the McNeese Cowgirls before a starting conference play Sunday night at Southern Miss.
