Weekend Recap: Bobcat soccer defeats Texas A&M Commerce

Texas State defeated the Texas A&M Commerce Lions 3-1 to improve their record to 3-3-1.

Midfielder Mya Ulloa scored the first goal of the game off the assist from Kaylie Smith, finding the back of the net from outside the penalty box for the early lead in the 17th minute.

Texas State later added their second goal in the 31st minute. Freshman forward Sydney Bassa scored her second goal of the season following the rebound off the shot from Marie Philipzen, which extended the lead to 2-0.

The Bobcats pushed their lead to 3-0 when sophomore forward Halle Garcia scored her first goal of the season off the throw in during the 41st minute.

A&M Commerce avoided the shutout by scoring a goal in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to complete a comeback as Texas State went on to win 3-1. This follows Texas State’s 0-0 draw against No. 13 Oklahoma State.
