COMMUNITY AWARDS
Hays County 4-H recognizes outstanding members, community leaders, businesses
The Hays County 4-H community recognized 4-H members, community leaders and businesses at the annual Awards Night, held at the San Marcos Veterans of Foreign War Hall on Aug. 10. At the ceremony, 35 Hays County 4-H members were awarded year pins for completing a Record Book. During the year, 4-H members maintain records of their experiences in leadership, community service and projects. These records are organized and published into a yearbook called the Record Book.
Following the distribution of the pins, the Star Awards were presented to the junior (grades 3-5), intermediate (grades 6-8) and senior (grades 9-12) 4-H members. The Star Awards represent the highest recognition a 4-H participant can obtain at the county level. The following were recognized as Star Award Recipients for 2024:
• Bronze Star: Jonathan Moody (Kyle 4-H Club)
• Silver Star: Nolan Moore (Buda 4-H Club), Luke Mosser (Buda 4-H Club) and Quincy Raines (Dripping Springs 4-H Club)
• Gold Star: Kaitlyn Miller (Buda 4-H Club) and Marlena Moore (Buda 4-H Club) After the recognition of the Star Awards, Hays County 4-H recognized several community leaders and businesses. The businesses and leaders were thanked for their support of the 4-H program.
The following community leaders and businesses were recognized:
• Friend of 4-H Award: Anthony Hernandez, Coco Farms
• 4-H Alumni Award: Commissioner Walt Smith
• Honorary 4-H Member: Jaimee Coco
• Meritorious Service: Davey Plumbing
• Donor Appreciation Award: Sunset Construction, Cypress Creek Animal Hospital, New World Bakery, Tractor Supply and Ozona Bank
• Till Volunteer Award: Clayton Craig
