Chloe Crawford, daughter of Chad and Karen Crawford, a lifelong resident and a recent graduate of San Marcos Academy will represent San Marcos in the Miss Texas’ Teen pageant in Richardson, Texas on June 29.
During her reign as Miss San Marcos’ Teen, Chloe has been educating parents and caregivers on her community service initiative-Stay Calm… For Crying Out Loud, a program designed to reduce Shaken Baby Syndrome. She is doing this to honor her cousin Sydney, a victim of Shaken Baby Syndrome.
“Having seen the effects that Shaken Baby Syndrome has caused my cousin over the years, I feel honored that I have a platform to educate not only parents, but babysitters, grandparents and anyone who might care for an infant about the dangers of Shaken Baby Syndrome. It only takes five seconds of shaking to injure a child,” said Crawford. “If Sydney’s babysitter had better tools to deal with her crying, maybe Sydney’s tragedy could have been prevented.”
Joining Chloe at the Miss Texas’ Teen pageant will be Charlotte Howe, a first-grade student from San Marcos Academy, who has been crowned a Lone Star Princess. Charlotte is the daughter of Tamra and Jeff Howe of San Marcos. Howe will walk the stage with Chloe during the Miss Texas pageant and be a part of all the festivities leading up to the final night of competition.
The Miss Texas’ Teen Pageant is a part of the Miss America Organization, one of the nation’s leading achievement and scholarship programs for young women.
