Texas State releases home game promotional schedule

TXST FOOTBALL

Texas State released the home game promotional schedule for the upcoming 2024 season.

The Bobcats have seven home games this year, the most for the Bobcats in the Football Bowl Subdivision era.

Both Texas State’s home and season opener will take place August 31 against the Lamar Cardinals. Fans are encouraged to wear maroon as the Bobcats will honor the program’s first ever bowl game victory, which saw Texas State defeat Rice in the ServPro First Responder Bowl. It will also be the first game under the now named UFCU Stadium.

On Saturday, September 7, the Bobcats will host the arch rival UTSA Roadrunners in the I-35 Rivalry. This will be the first time the rivalry will be played in San Marcos since 2020 and may be the first time the stadium will be at full capacity for the game since 2017. Fans will be given Take Back Texas rally towels while Texas State will also host the Strutters 65th reunion.

In the last of a three home stand to start the season, Texas State will host the Arizona State Sun Devils on September 12. It will be a Thursday night with the game being broadcast on ESPN. The game has been designated for Hispanic Heritage Day with glow sticks being given to the fans. It will be the first time Texas State has hosted a member for the Big 12 since 2021.

Texas State will return home October 12 for the annual Family Weekend game against Arkansas State. Family Weekend has been one of the popular games for the program with last year’s game attendance reaching over 27,000, which was the fifth largest attended game at UFCU Stadium. White pom-poms will be given out during the game.

Texas State goes back on the road before their next home game October 29 on a Tuesday against the rival Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. This is the first time UFCU Stadium will host a Tuesday night game since 2014 when the Bobcats hosted Louisiana. Texas State is preparing for Midweek Madness while honoring Faculty and Staff. Glowsticks will also be given at the stadium.

The annual Homecoming Game will be held November 16 against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. As per tradition, the Bobcats will wear special Southwest Texas throwback uniforms with fans encouraged to wear their throwback gear. SWT/TXST slap banners will be given out.

The final home game of the season will be November 23 against the Georgia State Panthers honoring both Senior Day and Community Day. The Texas State seniors will be honored during the game while students from San Marcos CISD and surrounding school districts will be given one free ticket to attend the game. Texas State will also be giving out thundersticks.

Game times for the first three home games are scheduled to come out over the coming days.

Season tickets are currently on sale with single game tickets coming to sale later in the summer.
