This weekend is Mother’s Day Weekend, but my mom will be with my Nana celebrating her 93rd birthday. She’s seven years from a decade old and still sharp as a tack! Back to my plans for the weekend. Now that Art Squared is officially back on the square — that’s where I’ll be. The market is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. They had one last month, and let me tell you, that thing was poppin. I have never seen it so busy, and I even got an instagram advertisement about it. It is truly thriving. I will take any chance to do a bit of shopping and support small businesses. We have some seriously talented artists and artisans in this town deserving our money. Also, if you’re looking for a last minute gift for Mom, Douglas Smith Artisan Soap Company, farmers market vendors turned full storefront at 208 N. LBJ Drive, is having a Mother’s Day Sale. Buy four or more soaps and you get 20% off, so if you buy four you get one free. I just bought a ton for myself because as the owner explained, soap, much like a fine wine, gets better with age. The hours for today are 11 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., closed Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Those soaps make my skin feel like butter and come in a variety of amazing scents. Plus the shop is super cute, and the owners are both very kind and friendly.
