Calling All Instrumentalists

Rehearsals reconvene for the Aquarena Springs Symphonic Band. The group will be reading new charts in preparation for spring and summer performances.

The community band is welcoming experienced wind and percussion players with high school experience and beyond.

No audition required, only a desire to play music.

Life Long Learning: Register Now!

San Marcos Parks and Recreation in cooperation with Life Long Learning of San Marcos is once again offering new Life Long Learning courses for the greater San Marcos area. The classes are primarily for those age 60 and above, but adults of any age are welcome to register. A minimum number of registrants is required for these classes to make.

Turtle Tuesdays

When: Every Tuesday, 10 - 11 a.m.

Where: San Marcos Discovery Center, 430 Riverside What: Participants can interact with, feed and create enrichmentitems for the turtles who call the Discovery Center home.

Food and supplies are provided, and no registration is required for this program.

Cover Letters Made Easy

SMARTS San Marcos Area Retired Teachers and Staff Meeting

Squashing Stress

When: Wednesday, April 10, 17 & 24; 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Where: San Marcos Public Library Who: Learn the appeal and versatility of DAS, Air Dry paper-based clay—to knead, roll, shape and form objects while enjoying the stress reduction provided by the soothing, tactile nature of the material. Once dry, pieces are painted and glazed and used to make jewelry, trinket trays, ornaments, small sculptures and whatever else we can imagine. Classes begin with a gentle stretch to get us all in the right frame of mind and promote a spirit of camaraderie and trust in a safe, non-judgmental space where process takes precedence over product. All materials provided.

Queer Game Night

60+ Monthly Bingo

When: Wednesday, April 10, 2 - 3 p.m.

What: Will you be the next one to shout “BINGO?”

You’ll never know unless you join us for our monthly Bingo program at the San Marcos Activity Center.

Each month, we provide Bingo with great prizes and light refreshments. Participants are allowed to play three bingo cards each game.

Registration is not required. You do not need to be a member of the Activity Center to attend. Come join the fun B-4, during & after!

60+ The Survey Says

When: Thursday, April 11, 1 p.m.

What: Join us every other month for our newest program, The Survey Says! This game show type program will include playing a “Family Feud-like” question and answer game. Participants will be asked a question. Participants will then write down two answers on a dry erase board, trying to reveal the top two responses. If their answer matches one of the responses to the survey, they will be awarded points revealed. If participants select a correct response that no one else wrote down, they will be awarded double the points revealed for that answer. Individual scores will be the total number of points earned for each question. Registration is not required.
