Gary Job Corps hosts Women’s Conference

In celebration of Women’s History Month, Gary Job Corps Center held a Women’s Conference with over 300 female students and staff participating in the symposium.

Social Development Director and emcee Tiesha Littlejohn welcomed everyone and then introduced Center Director Angela Rackley-Meadows, who started the event with a poem by Virginia Satir titled “I am me.”

Hope Powell, Student Government Association Coordinator; and Susanne Ritter, Business Engagement Liaison and Apprenticeship Coordinator; operated as conference organizers by arranging breakout sessions and panel discussions.

Breakout sessions covered topics such as Body Positivity and Self-Love. Panelists fielded questions from the audience and shared stories of overcoming adversary to become leaders in the community.
