A man was taken into custody late Monday by members of the San Marcos Police Department SWAT unit following a call at approximately 4:30 p.m. to the department that an individual had been shot in the vicinity of an apartment complex on El Rio Street.

In a press release, city officials said upon arriving at the scene, officers determined an individual was allegedly barricaded in an apartment. The SMPD SWAT unit was dispatched at approximately 7 p.m. to the complex where a standoff with the man did ensue. The standoff came to an end without incident as SWAT members were able to take the man into custody at about 9:20 p.m.
