San Marcans flock to P. Terry’s during first day of business

Cars lined around P. Terry’s during lunch time Tuesday as San Marcans looked to get their first taste of the Austin-based burger stands’ food.

Tuesday marked the first day of business for the restaurant located at 515 Springtown Way. This is the first P. Terry’s location outside of Austin and 16th overall.

P. Terry’s makes its burgers and fries from all-natural ingredients. The burger stands’ mission is to “always provide fresh, high-quality food at an affordable price while taking care of our customers, crew, and community every chance we get.”

“We’re very excited to bring P. Terry’s to the good people of San Marcos,” CEO Todd Coerver said in a press release “We look forward to being a valued member of the community there for years to come.”

Around P. Terry’s, Saltgrass Steak House will open up at the old Logan’s location at 1141 North Interstate 35. A second Chick-Fil-A location is opening near In-N-Out burger. Bill Miller Bar-B-Q is opening around the outlet malls.

“What this shows is San Marcos is continuing to grow,” said Jason Mock, president and CEO of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce. “There’s still opportunity here with the growth in residential with commercial. So, when you have those two going hand-in-hand the restaurant industry starts to look at that and pays notice to it.

“We’re centrally located between Austin and San Antonio, which makes for a great location along the I-35 corridor. I think with more of residential housing growth – like La Cima, Trace and Kissing Tree your going to see more restaurants in the San Marcos region. There’s a great opportunity for the hospitality industry to be successful here.”
