Rattlers search for first win of the season against high flying Eagles of Eagle Pass

San Marcos continues their search for the first victory of the 2023 season as the Rattlers make the trip to Eagle Pass to take on the high-powered Eagles.

The Rattlers are coming off of an heartbreaking homecoming loss to Laredo Alexander, as the Bulldogs scored a 65-yard touchdown run with less than five minutes left in the game to drop San Marcos' overall record to 0-4.

Eagle Pass comes into the non-district showdown with a 3-1 record with wins over crosstown rival Eagle Pass Winn, Corpus Christi Moody and Edinburg North.

The Eagles one loss came at the hands of the Boerne Champion Chargers, who knocked off Eagle Pass, 27-26.

This will be the second all-time meeting between the Bobcats and the Eagles.

In their first match up, Eagle Pass outscored San Marcos 20-0 in the fourth, as the Eagles edged out the Rattlers, 39-31, on homecoming.

One of keys for the Rattlers will be slowing down the Eagle Pass offense.

The Eagles have averaged 37.7 points per game through four contests, led by a core of wide receivers in Sebastian Diaz, Jose Hernandez, Sebastian Vasquez and Wilfredo Frausto.

The receiving core as caught 63 passes for 1059 yards and nine touchdowns.

The Eagles have also rushed 597 yards led by the duo of Xavier Barrera and Kaydrien Rodriguez.

The Eagle Pass defense has been no slouch either holding teams to an average of 13.5 points per game.

Kickoff for San Marcos- Eagle Pass is for 7 p.m. Friday as Cozel Foster Veterans Memorial Stadium in Eagle Pass, Texas.
