For the last of our spring Kissing Alley concerts, KZSM proudly presents award-winning Central Texas singer/songwriter Alex Winters. Her “edgy, honest, introspective” music makes a perfect fit with the ambiance of the historic alley opposite the courthouse. Enjoy this free, family-friendly concert as the lights come on and twilight deepens the blue of the sky.
According to her website, “Alex's original music can be described as something in between Stevie Nicks and Sheryl Crow, with a dash of Heart and a sprinkle of Evanescence.” She and her band perform a mix of original compositions and songs from the 80s and 90s, chosen to evoke the audience’s memories of that era.
Her own songs are written “for wayward souls who come from broken homes” she explains. “By sharing the good and the ugly experiences that have shaped the woman I am today through my songs, I hope that people can find solace in knowing that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that they are not alone in their pain.”
Besides Winters’ own guitar and vocals, her rock band features Kyle Saunders, guitar and vocals; Robert Skorpil, bass and vocals, and Erik Kinservik, drums.
Winters first heard of our Kissing Alley Concert Series through her guest appearances on “Friday Night with Care” (Fridays 8-10 p.m.), the eclectic, original music and talk show hosted by Carole Coburn. Coburn’s interviews have showcased a wide range of guests, including Wynona Judd and Henry Winkler, and her warm, intimate interviewing style fits perfectly with Winter’s music and her mission.
KZSM launched our Kissing Alley concert series back in 2017 with the support of Downtown SMTX. Since then, we’ve featured every type of music— rock, gospel, heavy metal, country, and more. Thursday’s concert ends our spring series, but we’ll be back in the fall.
