Commissioners approve TxDOT funding agreements

The Hays County Commissioners Court OK’d advance funding agreements to relocate utilities along a stretch of Farm to Market Road 110.

At its meeting last week, the court approved the agreements – one between the county, Texas Department of Transportation (Tx-DOT) and the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA), and one between the county, TxDOT and the Crystal Clear Special Utility District. The agreement will make the utility relocations part of the construction contract for the portion of FM 110 between State Highway 123 and County Road 245.

“TxDOT believes that this would be more economical and efficient to have the relocation within the construction contract,” Precinct 1 Commissioner Debbie Gonzales Ingalsbe said.

FM 110 is intended to loop around San Marcos, running from Interstate 35 at Mc-Carty Lane to State Highway 123, then on to State Highway 80 and to the interstate at Yarrington Road.

In other business, the commissioners approved a contract amendment with Doucet and Associates on work on Old Bastrop Highway that is part of the county’s 2016 Road Bond Project. The change increased the contract compensation cap from $426,384 to $435,000 in order for Doucet to modify the drainage plan, revise a ditch profile and increase culvert capacity to address flooding problems at properties south of Old Bastrop Highway (County Road 266) and west of El Camino Way.
