Texas State to present ’Pippin’ April 18 - 23

Texas State’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents “Pippin” by Stephen Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson on April 18-23 in the Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre.

Under the direction of Tom Delbello, with music direction by Austin Kimble, and choreography by Julio Catano, Carson Hampton Palmer and Allan Lopez, “Pippin” arrives on the Texas State stage this April.

A traveling performance troupe led by the Leading Player tells the coming-ofage story of Pippin, a young prince who desires a life filled with passion and adventure. Pippin becomes a soldier and joins his father’s (the king’s) campaign to prove his loyalty and gain his father’s attention. Under the thrall of the Leading Player, Pippin finds himself disturbed by the killing and death, and acts to end his father’s tyranny. Now king, Pippin is more lost than ever.

“Pippin” runs April 18 - 22 at 7:30 p.m., and two matinee performances on April 22 and 23 at 2 p.m. Performances are in the Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre, housed in the Performing Arts Center. Individual tickets start at $20 for adults, $10 for students, and $13 for groups of over ten people. Purchase tickets online at txstatepresents.com.
