Despite dropping her first match at the UIL State Championships, sophomore Gianna Moreno rallied to finish third at the meet.
Moreno, who competed in the 128-pound division, is the first wrestler in Rattler history to place in 6A. She’s the second San Marcos wrestler to place at the State meet — her older brother Jonathon Moreno placed in class 5A in a previous season.
Chris Soliz and Matt Banda also represented San Marcos at the state competition. Soliz competed in the 220-pound division, while Banda competed in the 106-pound division.
