SMPD requests public assistance in Spirit Pit Stop robbery

The San Marcos Police Department is seeking help identifying a suspect in a gas station robbery.

On Friday Dec. 11, San Marcos police responded to the report of an Aggravated Robbery at Spirit Pit Stop, 1214 South Interstate 35, and is asking the public for assistance in solving this crime.

At approximately 6:53 p.m. on Friday, an unidentified suspect entered Spirit and wandered around the business while waiting for all customers to leave.  SMPD said after they departed, the suspect approached the counter acting as if he was going to make a purchase.  He then produced a handgun from his hoodie pocket, pointed it at the clerk, and demanded cash from the register.  After taking the cash from the clerk, the suspect fled on foot behind the business, police said.

Video surveillance shows the suspect is a white or Hispanic male, approximately 6-feet-tall, wearing a red hoodie with the Air Jordan Jumpman logo over the left breast, ball cap, blue or purple camo-print gaiter face cover, black pants, and Nike Air Jordan 4 Retro shoes. The suspect possibly has a small tattoo on the web of his right hand and another possible tattoo on the inside of his right wrist, police said.

SMPD added that the suspect arrived and departed the Spirit parking lot on foot, and fled southbound on foot along Hines Street.

SMPD said the suspect was not located and the investigation is ongoing.  Anyone with home surveillance video or information about the incident should contact Detective Aubry at 512-753-2306 or [email protected].
